Action of citrinin on liposomes.

چکیده
Citrinin, a mycotoxin, was studied for its effect on artificial membranes (liposomes). Of the three (net positive, negative and neural) liposomal preparations tested, the membrane carrying a net positive charge was preferentially acted upon by citrinin and in this case even the lowest concentration was found to be sufficient for causing a high degree of damage. This is the first report of evidence that citrinin has a direct effect on membranes. It was shown to exhibit concentration dependency in its lytic activity on artificial membranes leading to leaching of trapped 45Ca2% ions.

Plasma jet impacts on Citrinin production in isolates belonging to Penicillium Spp.
Mycotoxins such as Citrinin are small toxic molecules produced by a great variety of microorganism, which encompass several classes of secondary metabolites with no common chemical structure or mode of action. Citrinin produces by different species of Penicillium. Today, the cold atmospheric pressure plasma (CAPP) method has a potential for mycotoxin detoxification. In this study, a new and pro...

Objective: Citrinin is a mycotoxin produced by several species of the genera Aspergillus and Penicillium and occurs mainly in food products and animal feed. Some scientific reports show a link between Citrinin and nephrotoxic and possibly a carcinogenic effect for humans. Methods: Samples collected by settling plates,in northern Iran and pure culture isolation performed till t...
متن کاملIdentification and in vivo functional analysis by gene disruption of ctnA, an activator gene involved in citrinin biosynthesis in Monascus purpureus.
Citrinin, a secondary fungal metabolite of polyketide origin, is moderately nephrotoxic to vertebrates, including humans. From the red-pigment producer Monascus purpureus, a 21-kbp region flanking pksCT, which encodes citrinin polyketide synthase, was cloned. Four open reading frames (ORFs) (orf1, orf2, orf3, and orf4) in the 5'-flanking region and one ORF (orf5) in the 3'-flanking region were ...
متن کاملToxic effects of ochratoxin A and citrinin, alone and in combination, on chicken embryos.
The embryotoxic potential of ochratoxin A and citrinin was studied after administering, either subgerminally or intraamniotically, single mounting doses of the mycotoxins to chicken embryos on days 2, 3, and 4. The beginning of the embryotoxicity dose range was found to be between 0.01 to 0.05 microgram for ochratoxin A and 1 to 10 micrograms for citrinin. The maximum response to both mycotoxin...
